The Joker has been a formidable adversary to superhero Batman for almost 80 years. Over the decades he has become one of the most recognisable and beloved comic book villains in pop culture, appearing in numerous comics, video games, animated programs and award-winning feature films. The latest live-action adaptation of the clown-faced killer was portrayed by Jared Leto in 2016’s Suicide Squad. The first release in The Perth Mint’s new Suicide Squad program, this brightly coloured silver coin is a unique piece of comic book and film memorabilia.

Menacing Design

The coin’s reverse design depicts a coloured image of Suicide Squad’s Joker leaning on a cane and staring ominously at the viewer against a stylised background of the character’s icon in the film. Also included in the design is the Suicide Squad logo, the inscription ‘JOKER’ and the Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
